Dear faithful readers,
It has been a while, several years in fact, since I have last posted.
Life has taken me in many different directions since my last post; I've changed jobs once or twice, gotten married, moved to Ardmore, PA (the main line suburbs of Philadelphia), and had a baby. My new work title reads "Full Time Mommy" - and a mommy to an allergy child at that. Being this type of mommy brings a larger work load that anything I have ever experienced before, and I have been busy.
My daughter has been diagnosed with anaphylactic allergies to a list of foods, including peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, eggs, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. Still nursing my little one, I must avoid all of these foods myself, which makes things incredibly difficult. Eating out is more frustrating than it is worth because the risk of cross-contamination and the need to scrutinize the menu (and ask about the presence of all the foods listed above, as well as trusting your server/chef), so I have been busy researching food substitutes and testing recipes in the kitchen.
Stay tuned for a whole new Suburban Spoon: Allergy Spoon is coming to an inbox near you!
